Hannity 8/9/16 | Donald Trump Interview for Hannity,Trump on Uproar Over 2nd Amendment
Donald Trump pushed back against suggestions that he was calling for violence against Hillary Clinton.
At a rally in North Carolina today, Trump said: “If [Hillary Clinton] gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although, the Second Amendment people, maybe there is.”
That led to a flurry of tweets from people questioning whether Trump had just called for people to harm Clinton.
The Clinton campaign responded in a statement: “This is simple — what Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.”
Trump said in an interview with Sean Hannity that “nobody” in the room believed he was calling for violence against Clinton.
The Trump camp has since clarified, explaining that Trump was talking about Second Amendment supporters uniting to vote for him to stop Clinton’s anti-gun agenda.
“This is a political movement. This is a strong powerful movement, the Second Amendment,” Trump told Hannity.
Hillary wants to take your guns away. She wants to leave you unprotected in your home. This is a tremendous political movement. The NRA, as you know, endorsed me — they’re terrific people. Wayne and Chris and all the people over there and they tweeted out, basically they agree 100% with what I said. And there can be no other interpretation. Even reporters have told me. I mean, give me a break.
